South African artist Chris Slabber has created a spectacular new series called Destruction/Creation, which features images of gorgeous “sculptures” formed from paint swirling in water. He uses photo manipulation to form delicate figures in the billows of paint, creating stunning portraits.

She’s pregnant for nine months of the year only to have her baby taken away soon after birth and either raised for veal or forced into the same existence as her, depending on their gender. She is forced to carry x10 the amount of breast milk as she would naturally hold, and is only milked twice a day, resulting in painful swollen udders prone to infection like mastitis. If she were allowed to keep her baby and not exploited for other people’s selfish appetites, she’d be fine. Seven months of her pregnancy is spent also heavily burdened with milk from her last birth. At an average age of just 4 years old, she is exhausted and unable to bear more children due to the strain placed on her body by people who insist on drinking breast milk from another species. So at 4 she’s killed, when she could live to be in her 20s. All because people don’t want to be weaned.Remember all mothers this mother’s day. Remember the kind of suffering these loving mothers went through while you’re all sitting down to your sunday roasts.
(And yes…. this is a cow from a ‘local free range humane farm’ near me and where I studied for two years. Dairy works the same so don’t kid yourself.)

This hits so close to home after becoming a mother. Pregnancy is hard, we all know it. Birth is even harder..and to put someone through that PLUS all the emotions that come with it year after year just makes me…and for what? Something that is probably the most easily replaced animal product? That isn’t even healthy for us to consume? Stop the madness.
